This note discusses the publishing of various Whig attacks on Jonathan Swift’s A Tale of a Tub. These, according to Alsop, were politically inspired criticisms “from the Whig opponents of the ministry’s controversial plans for a rapid conclusion to the War of the Spanish Succession”.
